IDS's Interactive Division develops strategy games and software tools to support training and education of complex operations, including COIN, interagency, and human domain concepts. Strategy games inherently train to consider 2nd and 3rd order effects, as well as forecasting other actors’ behavior. Strategy games force the trainee to form a functioning cognitive model which helps make the training a meaningful, personal experience.
At IDS's Interactive Division, the training objectives, real world usability, and training environment dictate the appropriate technology used to get the job done. By maintaining the smallest tech footprint possible we gain:
When a trainee has a functioning model that they have personalized we can present them with situations that reflect the training goals we want them to achieve. This process develops real world cognitive recognition, as well as cognitive flexibility that helps prepare them for the dynamic environments they will face in theater.
