Harmonizing operations across political, military, economic, social, information, and infrastructure sectors is essential in order to secure and provide for a population in a conflict or post-conflict environment. Liaising between the military, NGOs, and government agencies such as USAID and the Department of State is necessary in order to integrate the various non-lethal components into a comprehensive approach for tactical, operational, and strategic success. Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRTs) are the primary US Government interagency structure for assisting provincial governments in Iraq and Afghanistan. PRTs work with local leaders to develop a transparent and sustained capability to govern, promote increased security, the rule of law, and political and economic development. More importantly, PRTs provide the provincial administration with the means necessary to meet the basic needs of the population and sustain growth.
Our PRT and interagency experts maintain in-depth knowledge of the current operating environment. All have returned from the field within the last 24 months, with the majority returning far more recently. These SMEs have worked on or with PRTs for an average of two years in Iraq or Afghanistan, plus other complex operations environments such as Somalia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Haiti, Bolivia, and Vietnam. These SMEs provide expertise on lessons learned for stability operations, counterinsurgency, and irregular warfare spanning the whole-of-government dimensions.
