Training & Education

Since 2006, IDS has helped the US military increase its understanding of interagency, PRT operations, civil-military coordination, the whole-of-government approach, and civilian contributions to stability and reconstruction. The IDS curriculum builds on the collective experience of all of its trainers with recent State Department, USAID, or other interagency field experience from Iraq, Afghanistan, and other conflict or disaster zones.

IDS SME role-players coach, teach, and mentor military and civilian leadership and staff on non-lethal and interagency principles, dynamics, and processes. IDS provides full exercise subject matter expertise to develop scenarios, scripts, and threads so that training audiences are prompted to implement political, cultural, and interagency tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and best practices. In FY2009 alone, IDS supported nearly 90 training events. We have expanded our trainings to include all combat pre-deployment exercises conducted by the Army and US Marine Corps, as well as the US Department of State program to train civilian members of PRTs bound for Afghanistan.
